Petrie & Beaker

Ok its about time I wrote a small blurb about a project I'm getting quite passionate about. For years now I've had terribly sensitive skin. In a bad way. I would get breakouts constantly, dry patches of skin all over my face to the point that it would begin to flake off during the day in large sheets, like Goldmember. Truly gross. More often than not it would end up in a break out and, considering I'm a picker, well you can imagine the toning issues I now have.

I've literally tried everything. Being on the pill, being off the pill. Trying every cleanser under the sun, every spot gel, every rich moisturising creams, diets, dietary supplements like salmon oil, silicia and the list goes on. I couldn't remember the last time I had truly luminescent skin. Actually I could, it was about five years ago and as I earned a quid or two modelling I used to have make up artists gush and tsk at how incredible my skin was.

Fast forward to three months ago. I was at the end of my tether with having to wear a full face of foundation every day just to cover up the blotches, which would then flake off during the day anyway. I decided I would try all natural, organic products. I'd already started with eating the right foods, plying my body with minerals and nutrients on the inside, but I needed to stop putting toxins and chemicals in from the outside.

After a lot of trial and error, research, advice and learning, I narrowed my facial regime down to a few key products, rosehip oil being one, and can I say, my skin has been improving by the day. It's a miracle to see the results. My pores have all but disappeared and my skin is translucent and clear. It is such a joy to do my make up in the mornings - all I have to do is slather on some tinted moisturiser, a lick of mascara and I'm done.

Now with the ridiculously hectic lifestyle I lead, the travelling, the climates, the stress, I need solid quality products more than ever and they are not always easy to come by. So many products on the shelves these days proclaim to be 'organic' and all natural but check the labelling!

I signed on for a skin care course a little while back and have been immersing myself in research and product combinations ever since to develop a small range of delectable holistic products that incite spiritual direction as well as nourishing our external facade.

The range is free of all chemicals, toxins and synthetics with an emphasis on minimal processing. You could almost call these products 'raw'. I use mainly essential oils, floral waters, clays and granulated textures from nuts, seeds and sugars.

I'm developing a product list for a friend of mine who will be selling them online eventually on her vegan website - Veganera.com.

Stay tuned for more developments and the e-launch of the Petrie & Beaker range.
