Sunday in script

I was excited this morning; a true sense of anticipation. It was a beautiful blue sky outside and I played Feist tunes while I drank my green tea and painted my toenails in watermelon pink.

I met the Knight (the Sherpa's Brother) under a tree in New Farm park at 10:30am, as planned, he with his skateboard, me with my rad wheels. I unfurled my patchwork quilt and we sat and began what I hope will be the first of many sessions in awareness training.

The concepts are difficult, the practicing even harder. How do you describe the feeling of the expansion of your energy? How do you guide someone to feel or sense something that they've never been able to identify before? How do you explain colour to a blind person? How do you describe a sensation like hot or cold? This is what the Knight is attempting to show me. It is no small task.

Most importantly the Knight is explaining the importance of letting go of trying to control everything as it creates blockages. This more than anything is a big learning for me. Recently I've been receiving a lot of messages from the universe telling me to quit trying to control things. The very act of trying means that I am unsuccessful in that quest to begin with. And, to a large extent I believe that there is a grand plan for each of us and the universe will put us on our path when we relax and let the flow of life wash over us.

I know it sounds slightly mental but this is self actualisation in written form.

The Knight is an 80 year old in a 24 year old's body, and it's strange to see the two in action.

We spent the entire day together. Smelling roses, climbing trees (he did the climbing, those trees in New Farm are bloody huuuuge) eating fish and chips, chatting, laughing at crazy children, seeking shelter from the afternoon rain and smiling.

It was a sumptuous day with a stranger friend.

Universal Shift

I returned last night to my meditation group after four long, hectic, rollercoaster weeks. And boy did I need it. Generally I'm the one in the circle that's squirming by half time, shifting around, joints cracking, limbs needing stretching, accidentally brushing people beside me. But last night I must have really needed the therapy because I wanted to stay longer in that place. Very soft light, very quiet. Such a beautiful peaceful place inside myself, feeding off the energy in the room.

It became clear to me afterward that I had meant to go last night to meet the Sherpa's brother. Instantly he gravitated toward me and we started to talk about universal shift and how to connect or tune into this energy. We stayed back after the session, me asking a squillion questions, he answering them with the things I needed to hear. He showed me how to channel my energy in my hands and how to direct it into his. He demonstrated that everything is a vibrational energy and therefore we are everything, we are all connected in this way. My mind is still grasping at that notion. But my heart already knows it.

Two hours later we smiled and hugged, acknowledging another universal shift.

We are meeting under a tree in the park on Sunday to talk more Universe.

Meditation Tonight

After two weeks off I ventured back to my guided meditation session this evening. I've been feeling remarkably better this week (apart from the germ fest) but you know what I mean, internally, in my SELF. And whether that has to do with:
a) finally being able to release the past and the resulting negative tension build up;
b) being run off my feet with a number of rather large changes taking place in my life;
c) the Sherpa's miracle working hands;
d) embracing my Now;
e) all of the above; or
f) none of the above,
I'm not sure, but I know it's right. And good.

The Sherpa was surprised at how well I looked and said that it's as if a weight has been lifted from me. I like the sound of that. Furthermore I wholeheartedly agree with his observation. I feel lighter, clearer. Inspired.

It's a good place to be. I've worked hard to get here. I have a long way to go and I have the rest of my life to discover.

And I've developed a rad new skill: putting out a candle with the force of the channelled energy flow from my hand.

Session #3 with the Sherpa

Last night was Session #3 with the Sherpa. We went through the same bodywork, massaging all the tension points to release the pent up energy. It’s a truly cleansing experience and I beleive it’s a combination of psychosomatic therapy and musculoskeletal therapy that the Sherpa performs on me. I think I’ll explore these two therapies in further detail in posts to come. For now I’ll just explain the session.

Again I wasn’t sure what to expect having been told that each session is different than the last but I rocked up with a sense of purpose, knowing that this is exactly what I am meant to be doing for myself right now. I did less crying this time round. It’s fascinating the way that one minute I’ll be laughing at the pain I’m feeling when the Sherpa trigger points the inner arches of my feet and the next minute this overwhelming urge to cry comes over me when he loosens my calves and my back. I don’t know where it comes from but it leaves just as suddenly as it arrives. It’s so subtle that I only know I’ve cried because of the calmness I feel after I’ve stopped and my body has obviously released that energy through the act of the cry.

The Sherpa also felt it was time to teach me the beginnings of getting acqainted with myself again through showing me a breathing technique, the primary weapon in my arsenal against fear, anxiety, confusion and depression. Again, breathing techniques aren’t particularly groundbreaking, but in this moment, guided by the Sherpa, I was able to capture a glimpse of what it means to be calm and comfortable in your body. I know that I can visit this ’place’ often, as often as I need and know that underneath everything is this eternal, calm life force I can draw upon. I think this is the foundations of meditation and in fact I was invited to join in for a session. I managed to sit through an hour of just breathing and despite my right leg getting a little uncomfortable I was surprised at how it had a calming effect immediately.

Phew! Pretty heavy going! Or should I say “light” going?
